Daunting task ahead……

Shri Sadananda Gowda  is the new chief minister of Karnataka , hope Karnataka prospers under him.It is said that he has a very clean image, so that should give him a good head start at office.  BJP did a good job in making Yeddy resign , they should now go forward and see to it that all the 3 ministers named by Lokayukta are also dropped from the new ministry. One must appreciate the people like Hegde, the Lokayukta who proved that the system works. People like give us hope in the fight against corruption.

Shutting doors on a regional satrap like Yeddyurappa is very tough, for,he is a leader with huge caste base and good following in people. Incidentally he is the man who brought BJP to power for the first time in a south Indian state. He fought from 1983 to get BJP into power and succeeded only in 2008.Leaving such a man would prove catastrophic from a political point of view.

I think all these factors helped him to cling on to power in spite of all the allegations that came up against him in the last 3 years. However, one must say BJP did a good job by showing him the door when allegations of corruption came up on him.He resisted it till the end, but then when you do something illegal you ought to step down,it doesn’t matter who you are and how big you are , BJP made him realize this.

One can only hope that Shri DV Sadananda Gowda will not let Yeddy act like a super chief minister now. He is known as oner of the persons close to the ex-chief minister but letting Yeddy pull the strings will only make matters worse for him. The new CM has daunting task ahead, his very election via a secret ballot tells us the way the legislature party is divided in its opinion over the new leader. Then, there is the humongous task of getting the governance back on rails, frequent allegations on Yeddy give us an impression that the governance in Karnataka is going off the track. The new CM has to get that back and get it back quickly. Then, you have the Governor who at times looks keen on toppling the government. Then the bad name due to the recent corruption allegations, the mining mafia….so many  aren’t they?  One thing’s for sure, all was not well under Yeddy, that’s the reason they had so much trouble in the last 3 years.  The new CM should wipe that off, create his own positive image and should lead Karnataka to prosperity. That would give BJP a chance to come back to power in 2013.
